Weathered Bronze Hanging Planter

$55.00

Wheel-thrown stoneware | 5" diameter × 3" tall | Micro paracord hanger | Oregon clay

Round, quiet, and completely confident about it.

This hanging planter was wheel-thrown in my Portland studio from a rich chocolate stoneware clay — and then glazed only halfway, letting the warm brown clay have its say at the rim. The result is a two-tone effect that looks less like a glaze decision and more like something that happened naturally over time, the way copper turns and wood weathers and good things age into themselves.

The lower body is finished in Weathered Bronze — a soft, speckled celadon-mint that sits somewhere between a sea glass and a garden wall in Provence. Matte, quiet, slightly ancient feeling. Against the chocolate clay above it, the contrast is everything.

No carving here. No flourish. Just an exceptionally well-thrown form with a glaze story that does all the talking.

The hanger is braided micro paracord, twisted by hand to complement the earthy warmth of the clay body.

At 5" wide and 3" tall it's the perfect size for a Pilea, a compact pothos, a small fern with good manners, or whatever plant in your life appreciates a vessel with restraint and good bones.

One of a kind. The glaze line where Weathered Bronze meets pioneer dark clay is unique to this piece — no two will ever land in exactly the same place.

****A note on how this is made: The interior is intentionally left unglazed — raw stoneware breathes in a way glazed clay simply can't, and your plant roots will thank you for it. There are no drainage holes, because this planter is designed to be used with a grow pot nestled inside. Slip your plant in its nursery pot, hang it up, and lift it out easily to water properly and check on root health without ceremony or mess. The bottom is finished with as much care as the outside — smooth, clean, and beautiful — because when something hangs overhead, the view from below matters just as much as the view from across the room.
