Shoreline Hanging Planter

$45.00

Wheel-thrown Trailmix Dark Chocolate stoneware | 3.5" diameter × 3" tall | Micro paracord hanger | Oregon clay

Small but entirely unbothered by that fact.

This little hanging planter was wheel-thrown in my Portland studio from Trailmix Dark Chocolate stoneware — a deep, near-black clay that means business — then glazed in Satin Oribe applied in organic pooling shapes that settle against the dark body like the view from above of Lake Huron at low tide. Rocks seen through shallow water. A shoreline that shifts every time the light changes.

The effect is graphic in a way the other planters in this series are not. Where they are mossy and textural and earthy, this one is bold and modern and slightly mysterious. Same glaze, completely different conversation.

At 3.5" wide and 3" tall this is the small one — perfect for a tiny cactus with attitude, a single air plant, or a succulent that prefers intimate quarters. It also layers beautifully with other hanging planters at varying heights — hang two or three together and let them have a conversation.

The hanger is braided dark micro paracord, twisted by hand to complement the depth of the Trailmix Dark Chocolate clay body.

****A note on how this is made: The interior is intentionally left unglazed — raw stoneware breathes in a way glazed clay simply can't, and your plant roots will thank you for it. There are no drainage holes, because this planter is designed to be used with a grow pot nestled inside. Slip your plant in its nursery pot, hang it up, and lift it out easily to water properly and check on root health without ceremony or mess. The bottom is finished with as much care as the outside — smooth, clean, and beautiful — because when something hangs overhead, the view from below matters just as much as the view from across the room.
