Wheel-thrown Pioneer Dark with Speckles stoneware | 7.5" diameter × 3.5" tall | Includes drainage holes and matching saucer | Oregon clay
This wheel-thrown planter was made in my Portland studio from Pioneer Dark with Speckles — a warm, iron-rich stoneware that has strong opinions about what it does to a glaze. Finished in Parakeet Yellow, the surface shifts from soft chartreuse to warm gold to something almost metallic depending on the light, the angle, and what the kiln decided to do that day. Vertical streaks of iron burn through the glaze like rain on a window, or late afternoon light through tall grass, or any number of things that remind you why you wanted a handmade pot in the first place.
At 7.5" wide and 3.5" tall this is the generous one — wide, low, and bowl-like in the best possible way. It has the presence of something that has always been there, sitting on a windowsill or a table or a shelf, making everything around it look more considered.
It comes with a matching saucer and proper drainage holes — because this planter is designed for a plant with actual roots and actual needs, not just good intentions. Water properly, drain completely, and your plant will be very happy indeed.
The interior is left unglazed — raw Pioneer Dark stoneware that breathes beautifully and supports healthy root growth in a way a glazed interior simply can't.
One of a kind. Parakeet Yellow behaves differently on every piece — this particular meadow exists only once.
