This new batch of wheel-thrown mugs wears a scalloped edge that reads two ways. From some angles it looks like petals unfurling down from the rim. From others it looks like water in the second before it lets go and drips. I know which one comes to mind first for me, and it probably has something to do with how much time I spend near water. Each scallop is hand-painted, so the curve and the pooling shift slightly from piece to piece, the same way no two petals fall identically and no two drops hang quite the same. Underneath it all, Pioneer Dark stoneware holds steady, a warm khaki-brown base with just enough natural iron to keep things interesting under the glaze.
These are sized for real use at 12 oz, with a handle built for a full wrap of the hand. Good for:
✨ the first coffee of the day, before you’re really a person yet
✨ tea that you actually finish before it goes cold
✨ hot chocolate, obviously
✨ becoming someone’s favorite mug in the cabinet
