This little cup has a bigger story than its size lets on.
I found a vintage kick wheel a while back and brought it home, not really knowing what it would become. It turned out to be the thing that kickstarted my whole art practice. I don't use it often these days, but on the days my studio time gets swallowed by a day job or by life in general, having that kick wheel at home means I can still sit down for a quick session, foot on the flywheel, hands in clay, even if it's only for twenty minutes.
This piece came off that wheel. Thrown from dark chocolate stoneware, with a soft coral glaze that catches the light and fades in a way that feels almost sun-worn, it has an angular shoulder that tapers up from a generous belly to a narrower rim, small and dense in the hand.
It's petite. It's charming. And it's a small, physical piece of the reason I make things at all.
