Gus

$95.00

Hand-built reclaimed stoneware | approximately 5" tall × 4.5" diameter

Gus is not tall and he has made his peace with it.

He is sturdy and round and takes up exactly the right amount of space. He has opinions about the best seat at the parade, strong feelings about which comics hold up on a reread, and absolutely zero interest in being anyone's centerpiece. He's more of a "end table next to the good chair" kind of guy. He will grow on you. He has probably already grown on you.

His bowl is glazed in two layers that did something neither of them planned — a robin's egg blue, brighter and more alive than it has any right to be, spotted all over with a pattern that looks less like a glaze decision and more like something a very small bird left behind. Up close it has craters and constellations. From across the room it just looks extremely pleased with itself.

His feathers are a honey-cream matte that lets the dark chocolate clay body show through at the base — warm and unglazed-looking at the edges, like the glaze ran out right there and decided that was actually better. It was.

His legs are dark and sturdy. They have never once been in a hurry.

He might be Nell's little brother. The evidence is circumstantial but compelling.

All members of the Flock are hand-built from reclaimed stoneware, and no two pieces share quite the same material history. Gus's history is cheerful, dependable, and has excellent taste in comics.

One of a kind. Gus exists only once, and honestly that tracks.
